  • Able to work from office in Little Five Points
  • Able to work some long hours as project demands
  • Able to travel up to 10% of schedule
  • No health care provided
  • 401k program provided

  • Requirements

As our director of content development, you’ll need to guide and balance three distinct outcomes:

    1) Quality content
With your editorial director’s hat on, you’ll ensure that copy meets the client’s expectations and will perform as expected. For example, an “ask letter” is written to standards associated with high response; a white paper is formatted and executed to standards associated with positive reviews and repeat downloads; a press release is written to industry standards and will achieve strong pick up (all other factors being equal). You are empowered to make significant changes, including bringing on resources, leveraging new tools, conducting training for team members, in order to achieve this goal.

    2) High customer satisfaction
We score customer satisfaction by following retention, repeat business, and quantifiable “client satisfaction scores” from regular polls and surveys. You are empowered to make sweeping changes in account management to achieve this goal.

    3) Smooth operations
Write2Market projects are budgeted to certain costs and labor commitments. The profits are used to build the business as well as used as a reward pool staff. A critical component of your role is to keep an eye on budget on a monthly and per project basis to guide the profitability of each project—which means guiding the on-time/on-budget delivery of work. You are empowered to make sweeping changes to achieve these results on a consistent basis.

    Typical tasks
    • Monitoring project budgets and making changes as necessary to maintain on time/on budget operations
    • Advising clients on approach; taking an active role in meetings with clients
    • Updating project timelines and expectations
    • Ensuring that writers deliver work on time
    • Assigning work to freelancers/contracts as required by work variability in a smooth and efficient manner
    • Updating or drafting “how to write a ….” project cheat sheets. (We maintain a library of how to write each kind of typical document as a reference for team members.)
    • Assigning writers and resources to projects
    • Setting and organizing team meets with writers and clients to check in on progress toward goals
    • Consulting with clients about goals and outcomes
    • Developing writers and editors to achieve their fullest expression as professionals, providing detailed feedback when necessary, encouragement, and tactical advice on their development
    • Running one-off Write2Market internal projects as assigned
    • Investing in relationships with clients by sharing examples from your own experience as well as W2M success
    Perks
    • 80 hours annual paid vacation after 90 day vesting period.
    • 40 hours annual sick leave
    • 5 paid holidays (you choose—we’re not going to make you celebrate particular holidays—just let us know your choice of special days and they’re yours! Our office is closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day but you’re welcome to work if those aren’t your days.)
    • 4% 401K match after six month retirement program vesting period. (You have to put something in to get the 4% match—even 1% will trigger it; we suggest 6%).
    • Flexible work week—on full time salary, you’re full time so you’re expected to work 40 hours a week, sometimes more, but your precise office times are open to negotiation with your manager. Expectations are that 80% of your work time will be in the office so are you available to develop your team.
    • Work from home privileges. After your two-week training period is over, you have the privilege of choosing one work-from-home day on a weekly basis. Client meetings that fall on your work from home day must still be attended.
    • Casual office attire—business dress only for client meetings.
    • Association dues and conference attendance. As a privilege of this position, we’ll ask you to pick a national or global public relations or trade organization to join, attend their conference, bring their information back to your team, and submit our material to their awards program.
    • Company card. After 90 days, this position has the privilege of a company credit card for incidentals you’ll encounter in pursuit of your duties, travel and client entertainment.

    Bonus
Write2Market pays a quarterly bonus to team members when our quarterly profitability goals are met. This bonus varies and helping management set this goal is a part of your responsibility, since your work directly impacts profitability.

    Opportunity for advancement
Write2Market is a growing firm. As the business builds and expands, the expectation is that you will have the opportunity to hire and train a team of content development team leads that will work under you in much the same capacity.
