Write2Market Enters Green Business Competition
09-10-2007Technology and cultural shifts have provided entreprenuers with unprecedented opportuniteis to start high performing businesess right from their homes, according to Jeff and Rich Sloan, founders of StartupNation.
Blending business and lifestyle savvy, home-based businesses are invited to compete in the first-ever Home Based 100 performance ranking, a contest created by StartupNation to raise awareness of the home-based business movement. Rich Sloan invited Lisa Calhoun of Write2Market to enter the competitoin based on a list generated by their public relations agency.
"We were thrilled to hear from Rich and StartupNation," says Lisa Calhoun, founder and president of Write2Market. "Our team of highly educated professional business writers are downright evangelical about the many benefits of intelligent working from home. The opportunity to combine our passion for sustainability with pure business sense is given voice is StartupNation's Home-Based 100. It was a privilege to enter their competition in the 'greenest' business category."
Write2Market chose the "greenest" category because the firm donnates exclusively to environmental causes, most recently sponsoring IGEL. Embodying their commitment to envrionmental sustainability, the agency activity seeks ways to :
- Reduce paper usage through streamlined processes and digital workflows.
- Minimize paper in the work environment through software automation.
- Minimize commuting--including utilizing and actively promoting a home-based professional team.
- Actively engage local environmental causes and support them with a $5,000 monthly charitable donation budget.
"I'd encourage any home-based business to show their colors by entering this competition," says Calhoun. "Raising the profile of home based businesses is everyone's business. Reducing overhead, energy costs, and commuting to sustainable levels is an issue for us all. For many professional services, a home-based team makes sense. This competition from StartupNation is one way of publicizing a under-reported American business trend that can contribute to the sustainability solution."
