Atlanta Writing Firm Ranks Top 10 Greenest In Nation
01-25-2008Write2Market, an Atlanta-based business writing agency, has landed two top-ten slots in MSN and StartupNation’s Home-Based 100 competition.
Write2Market is the second "Greenest" home-based business and among the top ten "Top Financial Performers," according to results recently released by StartupNation. Write2Market is the only Georgia business named to the top ten in either category.
Write2Market was founded by Lisa Calhoun in 2003. The company helps clients create connections with their current and potential customers. Clients include Emory, Genuine Auto Parts, HCR Manorcare, Luckyfish, and about sixty other leading organizations.
Write2Market writers and editors work from home. "Twenty writers with an average round trip of 50 miles are not commuting daily, which means we’re saving our economy $300/day by working from home. Working from home means we do not contribute to the traffic, pollution, and congestion in the metro Atlanta area. Plus, our office waste is extremely low—especially for a publications firm," says Calhoun. "We use a custom software-based workflow process. From proposal to finish product, everything we do is entirely digital.
"Write2Market is designed to be a sustainable business. We contribute value directly to our clients’ bottom line with strategic thinking that’s strategically executed. Instead of the traditional business model of commuting to an office, printing out work, submitting work on paper, and marking up paper copies, we’ve streamlined the entire process, cutting out petroleum and paper waste."
Write2Market’s team goes through 500 pages of content a week—the equivalent of one ream of paper. Since one tree produces about 17 reams of paper, the company is proud to save approximately three trees a year with their digital workflow process.
The 2007 Home-Based 100 is a compilation of 10 Top Ten categories for privately held, U.S.-based businesses that are headquartered in homes. Competitors submitted their businesses for consideration, peers voted for favorites, and the editorial staff at StartupNation selected the 100 winners. With a core team of ten employees and regular contractors, Write2Market has doubled in size for the past three years, and expects sales of nearly $1 million for 2007.
