Successfully managing chronic disease is personal for the founders of Curant Health. Each of the company’s founders has family members diagnosed with at least one chronic ailment, and each founder independently arrived at the conclusion that pharmacists are the healthcare providers best suited to fill the growing gap in chronic patient care.

Together, the founders decided to form a healthcare company that combined the multiple patient care processes that have proven to be most beneficial to their own family members. With their combined 65 years of healthcare experience, they knew that chronic disease state patients both wanted and needed more support. Patients needed a healthcare company that treated the “whole patient,” not just a patient’s chronic disease.

It turns out that the same patient care processes identified by the founders as working well for their own families also worked to achieve success for thousands of other patients.


Curant Health developed a holistic, high touch patient care and medication management protocol that transformed the patient experience. After caring for patients for several years, the management team began to get consistent feedback from primary care physicians and medical directors. “I’m not sure what you are doing at Curant Health, but my patient has never felt this good or had such great lab results. Please keep it up!”

It was time to validate this new patient care model.



In 2009 Curant Health commissioned a study on existing HIV patients to investigate the impact of its patient care and medication management model on the clinical outcomes of this challenging patient set. The results were dramatic, with Curant Health patients enjoyed marked improvements in medication adherence and associated lab results (CD4 counts, viral loads).

In 2010 Purdue University College of Pharmacy and Amedisys, the largest home health care provider in the country, requested that Curant Health partner with them in a nationwide study on hospital readmissions. The study validated that the Curant Health patient support program provides for a dramatic reduction in hospital readmission rates and drives improved positive health outcomes. In one patient quartile from the study, patients realized a 90% reduction in hospital readmission rates. This was validation of Curant Health’s medication management and holistic patient support model on a large scale.

The strongest proof of the success of Curant Health’s patient care model is our 99% patient retention rate. Once patients enter our purely voluntary program they never leave: they feel better, get better and stay better.
