“I thought, ‘We’re sunk.’ I had vowed to never again develop a software in-house. And here we were developing our own software again–a bunch of publicists!” Lisa Calhoun, CEO and founder of Write2Market, said light-heartedly as the panelist at Inc.’s “Faster, Better Smarter: Using Technology to Grow Your Business,” May 24.

So, you ask, what do publicists know about technology? Actually a lot, as evidenced by Lisa’s outstanding showing on the panel. As you can see in the recently posted event recap video, she truly shined on the Georgia Aquarium stage as she answered questions about technologies Write2Market has utilized in different stages of the business’s development and how technology fits into a relationship-based industry like Public Relations. Lisa also spoke about current and future trends of technology for small businesses, alongside fellow panelists such as technology guru Sanjay Parekh, founder of Startup Riot.

In attending “Faster, Better Smarter,” I not only learned a lot, but I also realized just how much I have learned working with Lisa and Write2Market’s clients, who are very much on the forefront of their industries’ technological innovations. For example, in my time with Write2Market I have had the privilege of working with clients:

  • ShopVisible and Channel Intelligence , companies that streamline the e-commerce aspect of their clients’ businesses.
  • Prenova, an energy management company that continues to pursue innovative solutions like their enterprise-wide technology “Energy_Point,” an enterprise-wide portal for managers of geographically dispersed facilities to not only monitor, but also control their energy spend.
  • redpepper, integrated marketing agency is demonstrating leadership in its industry by applying forward-thinking tactics to best utilize technologies like Facebook and by developing their own ROI tracking tool they call Scoville.

Through regular interaction with these clients, I found myself well prepared, during the networking portion of the evening, to comfortably carry on conversations about technological trends with people who have devoted their entire careers to technological innovation.

During that segment of the evening, one person I had the pleasure of meeting was Kevin George, founder and managing director of Progility Partners, an Atlanta-based Management and Technology consulting firm, and the chairman of TAG’s Southeast Software Association. Meeting people, like Kevin, who are well-connected and experts in industries like the technology industry, that compliment our clients’ businesses, is always a pleasure.

At Write2Market, we have always recognized the value of networking events like the Inc. “Faster, Better, Smarter” evening as we create industry leaders, but Kevin came to the event from a much different background as a technology-industry expert completely integrated into the Atlanta technology scene and he echoed those sentiments saying:

“I was pleased to meet owners and executives from a broad range of growth-oriented companies. As Founder and Managing Director of Progility Partners, the event was an excellent opportunity to make new business connections.

The panel discussion was excellent. Panelists provided attendees who were looking to leverage technology to grow their respective businesses with excellent insight throughout the discussion and Q&A session. And as Chairman of the Southeastern Software Association, it was also great to hear the panelists mention a number of Georgia-based technology companies who provide software as a service (Saas) solutions such as Pardot, Silverpop, MailChimp and others.”

If you see a need for your industry-leading company to develop relationships with technology industry reporters and constituents in Atlanta, the U.S. and beyond, continue reviewing our website to learn how we “create recognizable industry leaders.”
