Why industry leaders must tap this resource
At W2M, we strive to build relationships with great people–it is their insight and wisdom that fuels our fire. When we visit with local media experts at networking gatherings, we try to walk away inspired, having learned something new and exciting.

Mashable partnered up with the AJC to bring Social Media Day to Atlanta (#smdayatl) and CNN’s Director of Domestic Newsgathering, Victor Hernandez (@vhernandezcnn), spent some time with us and answered our questions on the future of social media.

Though the conversation steered from allusions to Orwell’s 1984 to social photo sharing, the message was clear: social media is not just a fad, it’s a lifestyle that’s developing faster than many of us envisioned. It’s definitely a conversation we were excited to have with Hernandez, the self-proclaimed social media and tech enthusiast.

So what does social media have to do with industry leadership? According to Hernandez, “Social innovation tools lend themselves to endless opportunities within leadership, collaboration, branding, content sharing, etc. They are hugely critical at fostering relationships through authentic engagement. Tons of upside with very low barriers of entry.”

From our casual chat we also found that Hernandez loves the Instagram app on his iPhone, and he doesn’t see the urgency in updating his tech toys when the newest version of this-and-that hits the market. Follow him on Twitter for more of his wit and wisdom.
